Donations

First of all, thank you for coming to this page at all. It means you think what we provide is worth something. We think so, too.

We’ve done a little bit of work to figure out donations, and it turns out there’s no hassle-free way to simply get money from point A to point B. So, if you’re willing to go through some signups or other red tape, read on, and know we appreciate you.

You may use paypal to send to the Gospel Talktrine account, which we gratefully accept. This works with any credit card. Unfortunately, the transaction fees work out to $.33 for a one dollar donation, which isn’t very efficient. We recommend it for donations of $5 or more. We have no minimum or maximum amount, of course. To donate a large amount, please contact me directly at the email address I mention at the beginning of each episode.

Small donations are wonderful, too. Since we want to encourage one or two dollar donations (we love them!), using venmo to pay @markholt (with “gospel talktrine” in the memo) is our preferred donation method for those amounts. As venmo transfers must be done through the mobile phone app, we cannot place a link here. All venmo transactions to this account are private. Of course, if you do not have a venmo account (or have never heard of venmo), paypal will be just fine.

In the future, we will use a site called thinkspot.com (currently still under development) to receive donations. Thinkspot will manage subscriptions, which would allow you to donate a small amount regularly, like a dollar a month.

We use donations for web hosting, audio hosting, software and hardware purchases, and other such costs. If there ever comes a day when all that is paid for through donations (and wouldn’t that be wonderful), we will be able to then pay for upgrades like transcriptions and, most of all, editing (which is a big part of why podcasts come out as late as they do sometimes). It is our intent to always be non-profit, so donations in excess of an amount consistent with that goal will be donated in turn. At the point we are doing that, I will make the charities we choose known each week. That day will likely not be soon, though, since before donating the money, we would choose to upgrade the service we provide. This would mean benefits like faster transcripts, newsletters, more detailed notes, video, etc.

So, please, donate with confidence, knowing that your donation will be used to bring you even better, faster, and more complete episodes of the podcast you love.
